Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals affirms dismissal of civil rights claims against debit card providers

The United States Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals in St. Louis, Missouri issued an opinion on May 4, 2016 in Mickelson v. County of Ramsey et al affirming the dismissal by the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota of all Erik Mickelson’s claims. Mr. Mickelson, a former inmate in the Ramsey County, Minnesota jail had alleged that the county, the county’s commissary vendor and debit card providers collectively violated his civil rights. Peck Baxter attorney Marty E. Moore and the Minneapolis law firm of Meagher & Geer, P.L.L.P. represented the debit card vendors in the district court and circuit court.
